The role will involve pursuing and characterizing exploration and appraisal opportunities, developing production from new fields and maximizing economic recovery from existing fields. Additionally, in conjunction with the pore pressure, wellbore structure, wells / wellbore stability, reservoir engineering and petromechanics functions, the selected candidate will help to design, monitor and execute existing and future Technology Development programs for petroleum systems and reservoirs worldwide, which includes liaising with our BU shareholders for efficient and prudent adoption of emerging and impactful technologies. Reports to: Manager, ESOI Geoscience Structure, Stratigraphy and Pressure Primary Job Functions: Solve complex geomechanics problems associated with critical business decision for a diverse range of geologic settings, utilizing a combination of theoretical, laboratory and numerical modeling techniques, delivered collaboratively and integrated across functions. Conduct geomechanical evaluations with special emphasis on the integration of diverse datasets and fundamental measurements of mechanical rock properties. Perform integrated studies to predict nature of stress across a field and / or in a reservoir based on the structural framework and burial history. Ability to independently design and execute outcrop analog studies and integrate with core, seismic, and well data to build representative reservoir models. Build DFN models (FracMan, Petrel, or similar) for geomechanics and flow simulation. Analyze multiple data types to work within a multi-disciplinary team of geoscientists and engineers. Apply knowledge of in-situ stress estimation, caprock integrity analysis, containment assurance and rock mechanical testing and analysis including petromechanics workflows and lab protocols.
