Role synopsis BP Russia has a 19.75% shareholding in Rosneft and is also investing in several Joint Ventures in Russia with our partner Rosneft. These include the Taas-Yuryakh JV, Yermak JV and Kharampur JV. These JV’s cover activities from developing and producing giant onshore oil and gas fields to exploring for new accumulations in Areas of Mutual Interest (AMI’s) in East and West Siberia. The Exploration team is responsible for evaluating new business development opportunities, oversight & influencing of the Exploration Joint Ventures and technical studies and assurance for the shareholder team.This position is a key role within the BP Russia Exploration Team based in Moscow. The individual will lead technical activities for one or more of BP’s current three Exploration areas, working closely with the BP-Rosneft joint ventures that holds the licences, mainly Yermak Neftegaz. The chosen individual will use the regional project results to lead new acreage access and will provide support for licence-specific work and operational decisions within the JV. The role will report to the Russia Exploration VP and will be based in Moscow. Key accountabilities Oversight of all BP’s technical work for the NW West Siberia and Yenisei-Khatanga AMIs, including co-ordination of work between BP’s Moscow office, Russian technical institutes (mainly TNNC), and BP’s Sunbury-based team. • Responsible for maintaining awareness and understanding of Yermak’s and TNNC’s technical work for both AMIs, including awareness of operations, and with a readiness to support and/or influence. • Responsible for leading the technical side of new licence acquisition, based on the results of the regional projects. • Responsible for delivery of key Exploration Common Process (ECP) products related to both the recently completed regional projects and current licence-specific technical work, for presentation and submission to the Function and/or Exploration Assurance. • Responsible for providing interim assessments of potential auction blocks that are marketed.• Takes delegation of authority for Exploration Manager in his absence. • Responsible for ensuring maintenance of a compressive Russia Exploration database in Moscow, and complying with all data-security-related protocols. • Provides technical leadership and coaching of Russia-based Exploration staff. • Supports the wider Moscow-based team (including Reservoir Development) in evaluating other business development opportunities in Russia. • Participates in global BP networks. The goal is to perform a critical role as outsourced provider liaison to control full scope of outsourced accounting services and be a SPA (single point of accountability) for some Upstream ARC activities. Key accountabilities Control analyst performs a critical role as outsourced provider liaison:· Supervises outsourcing provider’s accountants including resource co-ordination, progress tracking and goal attainment. · Controls full scope of outsourced accounting services: Invoice registration, Bank payments and Currency Control, Expense reports – Concur, Fixed Assets and Property tax register, Accounts payables, Sales and purchase books preparation, Sales documents issue, VAT register, Input during Tax Audits, Statutory reporting: Statistics, Financials statements upload, Central bank of Russia reporting on direct investments. · Contributes effectively in team environments explaining accounting and T&E policy and monitors execution · Independently evaluates financial result and selects techniques, procedures, and criteria using independent judgment · Uses expertise and judgement on complex accounting transactions · Reviews Purchase contract terms and conditions (full scope review of the documents from accounting standpoint) – extra assurance for the Chief accountant of respective legal entity for the final sign-off · Acknowledges other functions and teams Legal, Tax, Procurement, HR and etc. Demonstrates awareness of relevant elements of other disciplines such as tax and legal and performs group ARC activities and cash management:· Leads Balance Sheet Integrity (BSI) process. Quarterly review of reconciliations and oversight of necessary actions and deadlines, while process owner is Chief Accountant who signs off. · Branch Taxpack reporting preparation for the UK STATS and tax purposes · SPA for M&T agenda in ARC including systems implementation and deployment · Manages cash resources, raises cash call requests with Treasury, invests short term funds and surpluses in Citibank, manages interest rate and currency exposure, agrees, maintains and ensures compliance with relevant documentation and BP policies Essential Education Educated to a degree level (finance, accounting) RAS qualified accountant Essential experience and job requirements · Thorough knowledge of both Russian Accounting Standards and Tax legislation at least 5 years of professional experience · Knowledge of IFRS · Fluent in English and Russia (both written and oral skills) · Ability to work autonomously and exercise good judgement at all times · Ability to deliver results against tight deadlines · Highly numerate with strong analytical capabilities · Ability to influence and collaborate with wide range of stakeholders and partners · Familiar with BP Group Policies, including BP Group accounting policies and the Group Reporting Manual (GRM) Other Requirements (e.g. Travel, Location) n/a Desirable criteria & qualifications Knowledge of Sun System and Vision Advanced excel skills Emerging leadership skills with the ability to lead teams in a cross cultural environment Strong impact, interpersonal and communication skills with capability to make a significant contribution to both the business and Function Ability to coach, challenge, and influence staff across a business.
