This position is for a role within the Power Operations & Optimisation team of GM&T. The primary objective of this team is to manage the operational day to day activities of the GM&T power portfolio, and optimize generation assets.

ROLE OBJECTIVES
This position is for a role within the Power Operations & Optimisation team of GM&T. The primary objective of this team is to manage the operational day to day activities of the GM&T power portfolio, and optimize generation assets. Involvement in the development and expansion into new markets across Europe, systems development and the support in commercial activities on the power trading desk. The role will involve being part of a rota requiring overtime and weekend working.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations
European scheduling, including power exchanges and power position nominations to TSOs across Europe.
Participation in cross border capacity and grid loss auctions
Liaison with the Gazprom Energy retail businesses in the UK and Europe with regard to customer forecasting
Development and enhancement of scheduling tools and processes
Collaboration with the regulatory team on legislative changes across the power markets and with IT on any required updates to our systems following these changes.
Development of new markets across Europe and the implementation of these markets in the day to day operations procedures
Attendance of various power industry forums/ meetings on behalf of GM&T
Asset Optimisation & Trading
Day Ahead and Within Day asset optimisation of thermal and renewable assets, involving liaising with the asset owners and the power structured trading team
Day Ahead and Within Day speculative trading supported by systematic trends and fundamental analysis.
Close interaction with short term traders and the intraday trading team; identification/analysis and execution of trading strategies in the European power markets.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Excellent analytical skills and a good attention to detail
Excellent computer skills; advanced knowledge of Excel is required ideally with a knowledge of power scheduling systems. Knowledge of SQL, VBA, Python advantageous
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Diligence and reliability
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and individually
Strong problem solving skills
Ability to cope with pressured situations and rapid growth of business
Ability to foster and build relationships across a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external
Strong appetite to develop a power business in Europe
Fluency in English
EXPERIENCE
European scheduling experience gained from a European Power Operations environment is advantageous
Knowledge of power networks across Western and Eastern Europe is advantageous
Knowledge/experience of European asset dispatching and intraday trading advantageous
EDUCATION
Degree level (or equivalent) education preferred but not essential.
