ROLE OBJECTIVES
This role sits within Portfolio Planning & Governance, a key component of the Global IT and Delivery department at GM&T. Specifically, the Data Management Team is responsible for:
Rationalisation and centralised master data management
Ensure a design enabling uniformity, accuracy, stewardship, semantic consistency and accountability over the management and maintenance of master data
Continue to address any weaknesses with systems, processes and governance related to the design, management and maintenance of the significant number of master data tables and validation rule sets

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Building positive working relationships across the business, in particular with data stewards and owners
Ensure established data management processes and procedures are being followed accurately and efficiently
Prepare data monitoring reports to identify data quality and completeness issues across the enterprise system landscape
Take ownership of data quality exceptions and ensure that these are resolved in line with cross functional and entity data requirements
Continuous improvement of processes and procedures, highlighting inefficiencies and recommending and implementing change
Active involvement in key projects, ensuring that enterprise data requirements can be met and supported
Continued implementation of a global Master Data Management (MDM) solution
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Competencies:
A subject matter expert in data
Proactive self-starter, able to work as part of a team as well as autonomously
Skills:
Strong attention to detail
Proficiency in SQL essential
Proficiency in Master Data Management tools and concepts
Proficiency in SSIS
Ability to understand the interrelationship of data across systems and ability to extract and analyse data
Outstanding quantitative and analytical thinking capabilities (strong command of MS Excel and Visio)
Strong communication skills are essential for interacting at all levels and across business disciplines
Willingness to learn and take ownership of completing tasks
Ability to solve problems and explain underlying issues to non-technical colleagues
Ability to document processes
Ability to create reports and model data
EXPERIENCE
A good understanding of operational process, tools and capabilities for supporting data
Experience in a master data management
Service delivery oriented
Experience in data quality and process improvement
Experience of extracting data from multiple databases and understanding inter-relationships and mapping criteria
Experience of mapping complex data processes with accompanying documentation
EDUCATION
Degree (or equivalent experience) ideally in a numerate or analytical subject
