You will use your expertise to:Ensure the safety of people, equipment, and the environment and that plant policies are adhered to
Learn all operating units within the assigned area of the facility and progress in increasing levels of responsibility at the site
Perform plant operation duties for smooth and efficient operations and ensure strong communication and collaboration exists between shift changes
Work on a dynamic crew covering a qualified post within an operating unit
Report and appropriately flag all plant-related issues beyond your scope to your leader
Prepare and complete daily area logs and communicate significant changes and findings in a timely manner
Provide direction and oversee maintenance and contract personnel as required
Ensure timely action and process adjustments during plant upsets that are consistent with operational objectives and target outputs
Prepare equipment and systems for maintenance and commissioning
Maintain housekeeping at a high level to ensure a safe work environment

Must-haves (minimum requirements):A 4th Class Power (Operating) Engineer Certification ticket or higher
Proven mechanical aptitude to perform the hands-on operation of plant equipment
A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

Preference for:Two years of experience working in refinery operations
2nd Class Power (Operating) Engineer Certificate
College diploma in Chemical Process Engineering Technology, or Power Engineering Technology
Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to make timely decisions associated with process upsets
Adaptive work style with an ability to handle multiple priorities, challenging demands and function positively in a dynamic work environment
Not tolerating shortcuts and if the procedure is incorrect, you fix it
A problem solver who constantly asks what could go wrong and checks for out-of-the-ordinary conditions and learns to anticipate potential problems
Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:You will work out of our Sarnia refinery in Ontario, located at 1900 St. Clair Parkway
The shift schedule is a 12-hour rotation of days and nights (three on, three off)
This position is safety sensitive
Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individual
You will be required to adhere to our clean-shaven policy and perform some heavy lifting, use ladders and work on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces
You will be subject to a six-month probationary period and represented by the Sarnia employees' bargaining association (SEBA) upon completion of your probationary period
