Are you an Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) professional looking for a new opportunity to join a dynamic team? Reporting to the Director of Central Environment and Regulatory, you will lead the development and management of applications for approval of electrical facilities for our upstream assets and provide support and expertise company-wide.
You will use your expertise to:Collaborate with regulatory authorities (e.g. AUC, AESO, MSA) in relation to electrical project development
Work with an integrated team to advance project design and development activities through a gated process
Represent Suncor to government officials, as required, through project development activities
Liaise with internal and external partners including major projects, operations and business development teams as required
Act as the in-house expert on regulatory permitting processes, policies and procedures relating to electricity generation and transmission interconnections
Provide environmental technical support for the operation of electrical assets
Review design of facilities and assist with commissioning strategy and milestones
Support the development of project quotes, execution plans, schedules and budgets for potential projects in planning stage of project

Must-haves (minimum requirements):10 years of relevant work experience
A degree in engineering, science, or a related field
Deep understanding of project development process including experience with gated project management programs
In-depth knowledge of electrical generation assets and electrical transmission infrastructure in the power generation industry
Working knowledge of regulated/deregulated markets in multiple jurisdictions
Exceptional understanding of environmental impacts of power project development to guide project design, oversee environmental impact studies, and complete regulatory permit filing
Proven project management skills and leadership abilities
Strong communication, facilitation and writing skills
Strong collaboration skills that enables you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
A continuous improvement mindset and are able to seek greater knowledge and understanding of the systems, process and hazards in the workplace

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
Travel across Canada may be required
